HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 c875
38. Mr. Lane

asked the Minister of Technology what will be the financial target for the steel industry in 1970–71.

Mr. Harold Lever

I cannot yet add to the answer given to the hon. Gentleman on 16th February.—Vol. 796, c. 8.

Mr. Lane

Is not it taking an unconscionable time to decide? Can the right hon. Gentleman tell us, when he finally makes an announcement, how many other years apart from the current year the announcement is likely to cover?

Mr. Lever

It is better to take a little time and get it right. It is not a small matter which is being decided. I cannot tell the hon. Gentleman how many years the announcement will cover when it is made.
