§ 5. Mr. MacArthurasked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent the trend of employment in the Tayside area is in accordance with the targets set out in the White Paper, " The Scottish Economy 1965 to 1970 ".
§ Mr. RossEmployment projections for individual areas of Scotland were not made in the White Paper.
§ Mr. MacArthurWill the right hon. Gentleman not admit frankly that employment on Tayside has fallen sharply, as it has throughout Scotland? Will he now revise the totally misleading forecasts in his pre-election White Paper?
§ Mr. RossThe hon. Gentleman still gets confused about manpower projections, which his Government never even tried to do, and the question of new jobs. He knows quite well that what is happening now in the Tayside area, with the Tayside Consultative Group, is forward planning for the development of the area, which has the support of most people in Tayside, if not of the hon. Gentleman.
