§ 19. Mr. Arnold Shawasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions to date have been instituted under Section 4 of the London Cab Act, 1968.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesForty-three, Sir.
§ Mr. ShawIs my hon. Friend aware that there is still a good deal of disquiet in the trade that under this Section there has been continual evasion? Is he also aware of the disappointment that the publication of the Stamp Report has been so long delayed, considering it was promised by the end of 1969?
§ Mr. ReesThe publication of the Stamp Report is outside my right hon. Friend's control, but it will come later in the year. If my hon. Friend has any examples of evasion, I am sure that he will let us have them. Last year I received a deputation led by my hon. Friend the Member for Ilkeston (Mr. Raymond Fletcher). I had thought since that time, not just because of that, that matters had improved in this respect.
