§ 24. Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will introduce legislation to prevent prospective employers having access to confidential personal files on students.
§ Mr. Edward ShortNo, sir. Prospective employers have no right of access to students' files.
§ Mr. JuddI thank my right hon. Friend for that reply. In view of the genuine concern among students about this delicate problem, will he undertake to discuss it as soon as possible with vice-chancellors and leaders of the student community? Would he issue advice to principals of colleges of further education, for which he is directly responsible, about the dangers inherent in the compilation and use of such confidential information?
§ Mr. ShortNo. I think that we can leave this to the good sense of headmasters and university vice-chancellors.
