§ 13. Mr. John Fraserasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether Greek military officers accredited to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation have the same access to classified information from British sources which is made available to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation as other accredited officers.
§ Mr. HealeyYes, Sir.
§ Mr. FraserIs it not a disgraceful state of affairs that military officers of a régime that has usurped power in what was previously a democratic country should have access to British military secrets which is denied to Members of the House?
§ Mr. HealeyNo, Sir. I cannot agree with my hon. Friend, because no officers accredited to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation from whatever country have access to classified information from British sources unless it is necessary to them in the performance of their rôle as members of an organisation whose function is to prevent a war in Europe.
§ Mr. Biggs-DavisonWill the Government resist any of these somewhat snide attempts to get rid of Greece from N.A.T.O., which might well be disastrous for the defence of Europe, of which the right hon. Gentleman has just spoken?
