HC Deb 06 November 1969 vol 790 c1169
18. Mr. Dance

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the annual cost of the Commission for Industrial Relations.

Mr. Harold Walker

The estimated cost of the Commission during the current financial year is £290,000.

Mr. Dance

When will the long-suffering public receive a dividend from this useless and very expensive Government organisation?

Mr. Walker

I believe that the hon. Gentleman is very much on his own in suggesting that this is a useless organisation and that the House accepts that in the long run it will prove to represent money well spent.

Mr. William Price

If the Minister is looking for work to give this Commission, would he consider referring to it the long-standing dispute between the hon. Member for Bromsgrove (Mr. Dance) and his local party members who believe that his views are too reactionary for Bromsgrove?
