§ 22. Mr. van Straubenzeeasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make an Order under the Weeds Act 1959 in respect of 1001 undeveloped land between Malvern Way and the Bath Road at Twyford.
§ Mr. John MackieI have nothing to add to the answer I gave the hon. Member on 22nd October, 1969.—[Vol. 788, c. 233.]
§ Mr. van StraubenzeeWas not that answer given last Session, and did it not hinge upon the fact that it was allegedly not dealing with agricultural land? The point is that there are weeds. The hon. Gentleman is responsible for them. Should not he act?
§ Mr. MackieI am sorry, I am not responsible for weeds, except on my own land, and only if they happen to be designated injurious weeds, of which there are five. We are responsible for weeds injurious to agricultural land. Any further action that should be taken is legal action. It does not lie with us.
