Queen's Recommendation having been signified—

Resolved,

That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to provide for the exercise, in relation to intermediate areas, of certain of the functions under the Local Employment Acts, 1960 to 1966 of the Minister of Technology and other persons and, in relation to derelict land clearance areas, of the powers conferred by section 20 of the Industrial Development Act, 1966, it is expedient to authorise—

  1. (a) the payment, out of moneys provided by Parliament, of—
    1. (i) any expenses incurred by the Minister of Technology in carrying out, on land acquired by him by virtue of any provision of the said Act of the present Session, work appearing to him to be expedient to be carried out for the purpose of enabling so much of the land as appears to him to be derelict, neglected or unsightly to be brought into use or of improving its appearance;
    2. (ii) any expenses of the Minister of Housing and Local Government or the Secretary of State in making, to local authorities, grants towards costs incurred 1139 by them in connection with the bringing into use, or the improvement of the appearance of, derelict, neglected or unsightly land; and
    3. (iii) any expenses which, by virtue of the said Act of the present Session, are incurred under any other enactment by a Government department;
  2. (b) the payment into the Consolidated Fund of any sums which, by virtue of the said Act of the present Session, are received under any other enactment by a Government department.—[Mr. Varley.]
