§ 37. Mr. Gordon Campbellasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the Gaming Board recommended that certain forms of gaming should be confined to three places only in Scotland.
§ Mr. CampbellDid the Government previously tell the Gaming Board that these forms of gaming should be geographically restricted?
§ Mr. RossNo, Sir; we left it to the good sense of the Gaming Board to operate the Act of Parliament on the basis of the principles accepted therein.
§ Mr. DalyellIn view of the traffic congestion involved at the entrances to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, is there not a case for one centre in central Scotland, such as Bathgate or Falkirk?
§ Mr. RossThe representations which I have received on this matter have been duly considered. So far, although I am quite open-minded about extending the number of areas, they have not justified to me the need for an extension.
