HC Deb 27 March 1969 vol 780 cc1776-7
14. Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs why the projected deficit on Government overseas expenditure, both current, invisibles, and capital, is £90 million greater at 1964 prices, in view of the fact that the target surplus on the balance of payments in "The Task Ahead" is larger than in the National Plan.

Mr. Alan Williams

Unfortunately the hon. Member has misread Table 3.1 in the Economic Assessment, which shows Government overseas expenditure at current, not constant, prices.

Mr. Osborn

May I ask whether the surplus which has been budgeted has altered since the publication of this Green Paper?

Mr. Williams

No, Sir.
