HC Deb 10 March 1969 vol 779 c945
21. Mr. Judd

asked the Minister of Transport what request he has now received from British Railways for the authorisation of capital expenditure on the electrification of the line from Portsmouth to Southampton and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Carmichael

None, Sir.

Mr. Judd

In view of the developments in South Hampshire as a whole and the need for a much improved transport system in the area, will my hon. Friend respond favourably when such a request is made?

Mr. Carmichael

Full consideration, taking into account all the regional implications, would be given to any proposal. Obviously, I cannot anticipate any decision which my right hon. Friend would make since we have not had any proposals.
