HC Deb 05 March 1969 vol 779 cc401-2
6. Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Technology what steps his Department has taken to assist in the development of Crossbar telecommunications equipment.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Technology (Dr. Jeremy Bray)

No financial assistance was sought from the Department, but, in view of the export prospects of Crossbar equipment, we were pleased to be associated with the Post Office in its decision to adopt it.

Mr. Eadie

Does my hon. Friend agree that this is good illustration of the good potential for British technology? As it has such good economic prospects for us, I suppose one could say that the knockers of British technology have once again got a bloody nose.

Dr. Bray

The prospects for Crossbar and other telecommunications exports are good, and the collaboration between the Post Office and manufacturers in furthering these exports is very close.
