HC Deb 25 June 1969 vol 785 c1501
41. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the accuracy and quality of rifle ammunition provided to Her Majesty's forces.

Mr. Boyden

I would refer the hon. Member to the Written Answer I gave on this same point on 18th June.—[Vol. 785; c. 106.]

Mr. Taylor

Is it not a fact that the United Kingdom specification for 7–62 millimetre ammunition is higher than the N.A.T.O. equivalent? Is the hon. Gentleman satisfied that these specifications are being adhered to?

Mr. Boyden

I have not had representations from the sporting side of rifle shooting, nor from within the Ministry of Defence. I therefore assume that the position is much more satisfactory than it would appear to be from the newspapers.
