asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many cases of food poisoning were reported to him during May, June, July, August and September of last year and how these figures compare with the previous five years.

As the Answer involves a number of figures, I am circulating a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Hunter

Is my hon. Friend satisfied with the report he should be able to give me? Can he assure me that something will be done to reduce the incidence of food poisoning in Scotland?

Mr. Millan

We make considerable efforts towards this end, though the primary responsibility is that of the local authorities. If there are any particular respects in which my hon. Friend thinks that we should be taking further action. I should be very glad to consider them.
