(5) This section shall extend to the Channel Islands.This Amendment extends the powers under Clause 46 of the Bill to the Channel Islands. There are Trustee Savings Banks in Guernsey and Jersey. Although the "Save as you earn" scheme may not be so attractive to the islanders because of their tax position, as it is to citizens of Great Britain, we still expect it to attract small savers and it has been thought that they would wish to have this power.
