HC Deb 03 July 1969 vol 786 cc622-3
26. Mr. Ian Gilmour

asked the Postmaster-General if he will extend the provisions of the Old Persons' Home Broadcast Receiving Licence Regulation to cover Cheshire Homes.

Mr. Stonehouse

No, Sir.

Mr. Gilmour

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware that nearly all the residents of the Cheshire Homes, as well as others in old people's homes, are in very bad health and nearly all are badly incapacitated? Will he reconsider this totally inhuman and illogical decision?

Mr. Stonehouse

I am aware of the grave position of this particular group and I wish that we could do something to help them. But, as I said in reply to another Question, concessions of this sort are complex matters and we should not accept them at face value.
