asked the Minister of Technology what is the total cost to date of equipment for the Linesman ground-to-air defence system.

£68 million, excluding building works.

Since this area is, to use my right hon. Friend's phrase, rumourful, may we have an undertaking that there has not been extravagance and waste in the Linesman project?

So far as I know, not. It seems to be going extremely satisfactorily.
