§ 35. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Attorney-General why Mr. Bruce Reynolds was prosecuted.
§ The Attorney-General (Sir Elwyn Jones)There was abundant evidence that Mr. Reynolds had robbed a mail train, and it was in the public interest that he should be prosecuted for that offence.
§ Mr. LewisI rather anticipated that reply. Is my right hon. and learned Friend aware that there is, and was, abundant evidence also that a hundred and one other people were living on the ill-gotten gains and were committing illegal actions? Why was not action taken against them?
§ The Attorney-GeneralI am fascinated by the number of a hundred and one. I have no knowledge in respect of that. If my hon. Friend has information of any criminal offence committed by others in connection with the train robbery, I shall be delighted to receive information from him.
