§ 8. Sir R. Russellasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when section 65 and the remaining sections of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1968, will be brought into force.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonApart from the provisions dealing with closure of highways and with structure and local plans, the remainder of the 1968 Planning Act will come into force on 1st April.
§ Sir R. RussellIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that I am grateful for that Answer? However, does not the fact that this Act has been brought in piecemeal cause a lot of inconvenience to estate agents and others who have to administer it? Would it not have been better to bring it in on one date?
§ Mr. RobinsonNo, Sir. We felt it desirable to bring the various parts into operation as soon as possible since these are, in our view, all improvements on the present planning law.
§ Mr. Graham PageWhen does the right hon. Gentleman expect that the Regulations will be made and laid which are consequent upon the parts of the Act which will come on 1st April?
§ Mr. RobinsonI expect that the commencement Order will be published by 10th March.
