HC Deb 06 February 1969 vol 777 cc568-9
21. Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposals he has received from the Portsmouth Education Authority for a comprehensive system of education in Portsmouth; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Short

My Department is now examining the proposals which the authority submitted on 8th January. I shall reach a decision on them as soon as possible.

Mr. Judd

As this scheme has been a long time in preparation, and as there is, inevitably, anxiety among parents, staff, and children, can my right hon. Friend assure the House that his Department will consider the proposals with the maximum possible speed?

Mr. Short

Yes, Sir. I shall look at this as quickly as I can and let the authority have a decision as soon as possible.
