HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c1680
9. Mr. David Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what consultations she is having in connection with formulating regulations under the Employers' Liability(Compulsory Insurance) Act, 1969; and if she will make a statement.

Mrs. Castle

These matters are under consideration and a further statement will be made as soon as possible.

Mr. Watkins

Is my right hon. Friend aware that this important piece of legislation does not become operative until regulations are made? Will she treat it with some urgency?

Mrs. Castle

I am aware that this is an important piece of legislation and I congratulate my hon. Friend on his success in getting it through the House. I assure him that no time will be lost in preparing the regulations but this is a very detailed and technical matter. I ask him to have a little patience, as it is not many weeks since the Act was put on the Statute Book.
