§ 9. Mr. David Watkinsasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what consultations she is having in connection with formulating regulations under the Employers' Liability(Compulsory Insurance) Act, 1969; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mrs. CastleThese matters are under consideration and a further statement will be made as soon as possible.
§ Mr. WatkinsIs my right hon. Friend aware that this important piece of legislation does not become operative until regulations are made? Will she treat it with some urgency?
§ Mrs. CastleI am aware that this is an important piece of legislation and I congratulate my hon. Friend on his success in getting it through the House. I assure him that no time will be lost in preparing the regulations but this is a very detailed and technical matter. I ask him to have a little patience, as it is not many weeks since the Act was put on the Statute Book.
