HC Deb 22 April 1969 vol 782 c242
17. Mr. Clegg

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what representations he has received from the construction industry about difficulties in relation to obtaining scaffolding and other equipment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellish

None, Sir.

Mr. Clegg

Does not the Minister think it worth looking into the matter, since there seems to be delay?

Mr. Mellish

I have close contact with the industry and if such problems exist the industry will tell me. There is another side to this question. The Construction Industry Training Board wanted to set up a scaffolding course. I should have thought that was a simple enough proposition, but it had to consult over 20 different organisations before it could get it off the ground.
