HC Deb 15 October 1968 vol 770 c196
Q1. Mr. Marten

asked the Prime Minister when he next proposes to take the chair at a meeting of the National Economic Development Council.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Harold Wilson)

At its next meeting on 6th November, 1968, Sir.

Mr. Marten

As at this meeting the Government's incomes policy is likely to be mentioned, can the Prime Minister clarify to the House his remark at his party conference at Blackpool that every time the platform was defeated the Government would regard it not as an instruction but as a warning? How will this particular warning on their defeat on prices and incomes affect the Government's attitude?

The Prime Minister

I also reminded Conference of the phrase I used in this House and in a meeting upstairs in relation to the renewal of the legislation when it ends next November. The hon. Gentleman will have noticed that there is Question on the Order Paper when I can have an opportunity of dealing with this matter further if it is reached.
