Motion made, and Question proposed,

That, notwithstanding the practice of the House relating to the interval between the various stages of a Bill brought in on a Ways and Means Resolution, more than one stage of the Customs (Import Deposits) Bill may be proceeded with at any Sitting of the House.—[Mr. Harper.]

I merely want to make one point. Clearly, there will be Amendments for the Report stage of the Bill. If the Report stage is taken immediately following the Committee stage, it may be necessary for manuscript Amendments to be put in Mr. Speaker, although it is entirely a is a matter for you, I should be grateful if the Government could say that they would have no objection to this being done.

I can only echo what the hon. Gentleman has said. It is a matter for the Chair. Whatever the Chair decides we happily and joyfully subscribe to.
