35. Mr. Palmer

asked the Minister of Power when he expects the Committee headed by Sir Alan Wilson to inquire into the causes of delays in commissioning the new power stations of the Central Electricity Generating Board to report.

Mr. Mason

I hope to have the Committee's report by early next year.

Mr. Palmer

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that this Committee, which is a little inbred in its membership, will give him a really impartial and penetrating report on this very serious problem?

Mr. Mason

Yes. The Committee is treating this very seriously. I do not accept my hon. Friend's view that the Committee is inbred. It has already met twenty times and is still collecting evidence and visiting power station sites. I shall have its report by the turn of the year.
