§ 27. Mr. Ronald Bellasked the Postmaster-General why subscribers are now asked to pay the postage when paying their telephone bills by post.
§ The Postmaster-General (Mr. Roy Mason)I am sorry that we had to stop sending postage-paid returnable envelopes to some of our subscribers. I am at the moment reconsidering policy generally on free postage on telephone bills.
§ Mr. BellI am obliged for that Answer, which will be generally welcomed. Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the public do not like the fact that mechanisation always seems to operate to their disadvantage?
§ Mr. MasonI remind the hon. and learned Gentleman that most corporations require their subscribers, when paying bills, to put postage stamps on them. So far we have avoided that.
