HC Deb 13 May 1968 vol 764 cc840-1
12. Mr. William Price

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will introduce legislation to ensure that employers pay accumulated holiday money to people who leave during the year.

The Under-Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity (Mr. Roy Hattersley)

No, Sir; but the Government consider that employers who have not already done so should reach agreements with their workers on all aspects of holidays and holiday pay.

Mr. Price

Is it not a fact that while the majority of employers do accept their commitments there are still those who, given an opportunity, fiddle their work-people?

Mr. Hattersley

There are certainly some who do not fulfil their commitments. The proper course of redress for individuals in this situation is to join a trade union and to make sure that it comes to a satisfactory agreement with the employers.
