HC Deb 25 March 1968 vol 761 c909
50. Mr. Worsley

asked the Minister of Labour what proposals he has for improving transferability between private pension schemes.

Mr. Gunter

This matter is under consideration but cannot be decided in advance of the review, which is at present being carried out, of the State social security scheme.

Mr. Worsley

With respect to the right hon. Gentleman, would it not be better if consideration of these matters were transferred to the Department of his right hon. Friend the Minister of Social Security, so that all pension matters could be considered together?

Mr. Gunter

The hon. Member will, I am sure, know that the closest cooperation takes place between the two Departments on this matter. I do not think that that is the problem. As I have explained to the House before, this question is so complicated and so complex because of the vast number of different pension schemes in industry that it is difficult to arrive at proper conclusions about them.
