HC Deb 20 March 1968 vol 761 c402
22. Mr. Allason

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what will be the strength of the paid Regular Army Reserve in 1968, 1970, 1972 and 1974.

Mr. Boyden

The planned strength of Sections A, B and D of the Regular Reserve up to 1974 is as follows:

1968 36,500
1970 46,000
1972 47,000
1974 50,000
Mr. Allason

Is the Minister satisfied that these increases are adequate in view of the very severe run-down of the Regular Army and also of the Territorial Army? Is he sure that he has enough, or ought he not to look for further sources of Regular Reserves?

Mr. Boyden

Yes, Sir. No, Sir.
