HC Deb 19 March 1968 vol 761 c236
28. Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Minister of Health why he refuses to allow Mr. G. W. Smith, of 2 Bards Cottages, Oakley Road, Dovercourt, an invalid car, though he needs this car for his employment, and is willing to contribute as much as he is able to the cost of such a car.

Mr. Snow

Because his disability does not make him eligible for an invalid vehicle.

Mr. Ridsdale

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that this man is willing to contribute £200 towards the car and that, without it, he will be a charge on the unemployment fund? Will he look seriously at the case again?

Mr. Snow

My information is that the hon. Gentleman's constituent can walk reasonable distances and does not at present have a difficult journey to work. If there is any deterioration in his condition, we should like to look at the case again.
