asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what proposals he has made through the Commonwealth Secretariat to other Common- wealth Governments for creating a Commonwealth peace-keeping force.

Does my hon. Friend agree that proposals for creating such a force might be very useful in helping to bring about a peaceful solution to the dangerous and tragic situation in Nigeria?

Mr. Thomas

If such a proposal comes from both sides, we shall look at it with sympathy.
