§ Lords Amendment No. 1: In page 1, line 10, leave out "the retail selling of" and insert "dispensing".
§ Mr. Laurence Pavitt (Willesden, West)I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
May I apologise to you, Mr. Speaker, and to the House that so many Amendments have emerged in another place? This is mainly because of drafting problems and also because, once one had to become more closely defining in terms, it led to consequential Amendments. The Amendment paves the way in order to ensure that hirers as well as sellers of hearing aids are encompassed in the Bill.
The Amendments which follow are designed in order that there shall be greater clarity in the way in which the Bill is interpreted, once it goes on to the Statute Book.
I apologise again for the number of Amendments from another place, but they are all consequential, drafting, or in order to improve the grammar.
