§
Lords Amendment No. 7: In page 2, line 8, at beginning insert:
In accordance with any such arrangements as are mentioned in the said section 8, the Board may hold or dispose of".
§ 10.45 p.m.
§ Mr. MaclennanI beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
§ Mr. G. CampbellI had hoped the hon. Member might take the opportunity of confirming whether I was right or wrong that these Amendments arose because of the Long Title of the Bill being too restrictive in the first place.
§ Mr. SpeakerBy leave of the House. Mr. Maclennan.
§ Mr. MaclennanThe hon. Member for Moray and Nairn (Mr. G. Campbell) is quite correct. As the House will recall, when it gave me permission to introduce the Bill the points contained in the Amendments were clearly outlined as being within the objective of the Bill. It was my understanding that the House gave me leave to bring in a Bill in wider terms than it was possible to include in the Bill as originally introduced because of the restriction in the Long Title. I am grateful to the hon. Member for Moray and Nairn for his remarks and for the help which he has given throughout the passage of the Bill, and for his understanding of the technical difficulties that arise in the presentation of the Private Member's Bill.
