HC Deb 18 July 1968 vol 768 c1638
2. Mr. Wall

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if he will now make a statement on current market values of farms in Kenya to be bought under the 400,000-acre re-settlement scheme.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Overseas Development (Mr. A. E. Oram)

I regret that I cannot add to the Answer I gave to the hon. Member on 30th May.—[Vol. 765; c. 2108.]

Mr. Wall

Will the hon. Gentleman bear in mind that he promised an answer in May, as his hon. Friend had just returned from Kenya? As the matter is of considerable importance to small European farmers still in that country, will he give it urgent consideration?

Mr. Oram

I did say on that occasion that I recognised the importance of the matter, but the position is that the British Government's valuer's report was passed to the Kenya Government in May and is still under consideration by them.
