HC Deb 08 July 1968 vol 768 cc22-3
19. Mr. Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action he is taking to improve the consular facilities in Baltimore, United States of America.

Mr. Mulley

The post was inspected in March, and, as a result, the vice-consul has been promoted and authorised to take on a full-time secretary.

Mr. Ellis

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him whether he is aware that I have had a complaint from a constituent who has had to take business associates into this office which, I understand, is situated above a warehouse? May I thank my right hon. Friend for removing from the consular office the sofa without stuffing in it?

Mr. Mulley

I am obliged to my hon. Friend. I thought at first that he was trying to take the stuffing out of me.
