Mr. Stodartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the Royal Fine Art Commission's objections on the grounds of form, scale and character, he will intervene in the proposal to build five blocks of five and 12 storeys alternatively in Queensferry Road, Edinburgh, on the grounds that such a development would conflict with the importance attached to the maintenance of views in Edinburgh, as emphasised in the Quinquennial Review.

Member, whose correspondence with my noble Friend I have seen, but there are certain matters of principle and detailed application which are being considered. I am quite sure, however, that Edinburgh Corporation will take the views of the Royal Fine Art Commission into account.
