HC Deb 25 January 1968 vol 757 cc565-6
14. Mr. Ian Gilmour

asked the Postmaster-General what plans he has to start a postal mini-bus service in Norfolk.

Mr. Joseph Slater

None at present. With my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Transport, we have considered a number of possible routes, but none of these has proved suitable. If the hon. Gentleman has any particular route to suggest we will be pleased to look at it.

Mr. Gilmour

I am grateful to the right hon. Gentleman. Is he aware that up to now there has been a widespread feeling in Norfolk that insufficient and rather hurried consideration was given to this project by the Ministry of Transport if not by the Post Office? I should like to write to the hon. Gentleman about this matter.

Mr. Slater

We shall be very happy to talk to the hon. Gentleman about it.

Dr. Gray

If my hon. Friend is able to introduce such a service for East Norfolk, will he look at the possibility of children being given lifts when they have to walk long distances to school?

Mr. Slater

That is a fair question. All these things will be taken into consideration.
