asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will renew Central Bank swap arrangements with the Bank of France.

These arrangements continue in being.

May we take it from that most welcome news that the French Government can be relied on to report on the progress of the British attempt to return to solvency and keep the Government up to the mark, when the Chancellor appears to lack the determination to do so, judging by last week's events?
