§ 23. Mr. Tinnasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he expects to receive proposals for the reorganisation of secondary education in the North Riding.
§ Miss BaconI hope that the submission of a plan will not be long delayed.
§ Mr. TinnIs my right hon. Friend aware that there is widespread concern in my constituency, expressed in the Press and elsewhere, both about the delays in submitting a scheme and the authority's failure so far to consult parents'?
§ Miss BaconI am pleased to hear that there is this concern to have comprehensive education, but I understand that the school governors, teachers and others specially concerned have recently been consulted about the plan, and we hope to receive it shortly.
§ Mr. TurtonIs the right hon. Lady aware that a great deal of delay has been caused by the mutilation of the area of the North Riding by the creation of the Teesside County Borough, and that the Department and the authority should work with great expedition and efficiency?
§ Miss BaconThat is another question, on which the right hon. Gentleman would not expect me to comment.
