HC Deb 08 February 1968 vol 758 c650
Q6. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Prime Minister what proposals he has for establishing a common citizenship with other members of the European Free Trade Area.

Mr. George Brown

I have been asked to reply.

None, Sir.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

Will the Foreign Secretary look again at this suggestion, because it has aroused a certain amount of interest among our friends in E.F.T.A.? Will he particularly consider whether the relationship between this country and Canada could be extended to our E.F.T.A. friends?

Mr. Brown

I do not think that the hon. Gentleman is right to say that this idea has raised a lot of interest among our E.F.T.A. friends, and I do not think that any North American country would regard it as a very good thing to do.
