HC Deb 01 February 1968 vol 757 cc1527-8
8. Mr. Ednyfed Hudson Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will take steps to ensure that, in the reorganised structure of local government in Wales, provision will be made for close co-ordination of physical land use planning control with economic planning.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Davies

Is my right hon. Friend aware that, in the past, co-ordination has been entirely lacking, and will he say what steps he proposes to take to remedy the situation?

Mr. Hughes

I would not agree with my hon. Friend that co-ordination has been entirely lacking, and the Government's proposals for reducing the number of local planning authorities in Wales and for reconstituting the Welsh Council will greatly strengthen co-ordination on all aspects of planning both within the areas of the local planning authorities and in Wales as a whole.
