HC Deb 26 August 1968 vol 769 cc1272-3
Mr. Heath

May I ask the Leader of the House whether he will make a statement on the business of the House?

The Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Commons (Mr. Fred Peart)

Yes, Sir. The House has been recalled to discuss Czechoslovakia. This will take place on a Motion for the Adjournment of the House.

It will be proposed that tomorrow the House should meet from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a debate on Nigeria, which also will arise on a Motion for the Adjournment of the House.

Mr. Emery

On a point of order. I have given you notice, Mr. Speaker, of this point. As the Motion that we do meet tomorrow has been on the Order Paper only since today, would you accept an Amendment to it, to leave out from "Four o'clock" to the end of the Question and add instead thereof: There will be a debate for three hours on the flooding in the West Country"— and the totally inadequate Government relief, on a Motion to be moved by the hon. Member for Honiton, after which Mr. Speaker do— adjourn the House without putting any Question".

Mr. Speaker

I will consider any manuscript Amendment. I would not, however, undertake at this moment to accept it.
