asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many times the Scottish Economic Council has met; and at how many of the meetings he has presided.

The Council has had 21 meetings at 17 of which I have presided.

§ Mr. Baker
Can the right hon. Gentleman tell the House specifically what advice the Council gave to his right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport about the closure of railway lines in Banffshire?

As the hon. Gentleman should know, the advice given by the Council to me as well as to any other Minister through me is confidential.
