HC Deb 25 October 1967 vol 751 cc1713-4
18. Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware of the present situation in the meat and livestock industry; and what measures he will take to improve it.

Mr. Buchan

Yes, Sir. Measures were taken at the last Annual Review to provide further encouragement to cattle, sheep and pig production, and the position will be subject to a further detailed examination at the forthcoming Annual Review. The Meat and Livestock Commission will be particularly concerned with measures to improve the industry's efficiency in production and marketing.
