HC Deb 30 November 1967 vol 755 cc633-4
31. Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give an assurance that the Boundary Commission's recommendations will not be delayed by the findings of the Royal Commission on Local Government.

The Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. David Ennals)

The Parliamentary Boundary Commissions for England and Wales have until the autumn of 1969 to submit reports on the general reviews on which they are at present engaged. I have no reason to think there will be any delay in the submission of these reports.

Mr. Cordle

Will the Home Secretary lay the recommendations before Parliament, with the Draft Orders in Council, as soon as may be after he has received them?

Mr. Ennals

As soon as may be. He has an obligation to submit the Report of the Commission to Parliament.
