HC Deb 28 November 1967 vol 755 cc232-3
24. Mr. Boston

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what representations he has now received from the Greater London Council for a fresh inquiry into the proposal to site the third London airport at Stansted; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. MacDermot

None, Sir.

Mr. Boston

Will my hon. and learned Friend accept that that is very comforting news? Can he say what stage has now been reached in the negotiations which are taking place with the local authorities concerned about the detailed implementation of the Stansted decision? When are the talks likely to be completed, and when is the development order likely to be introduced?

Mr. MacDermot

We hope to send within the next two or three weeks to the authorities concerned a map showing more contours and other information. The consultations will then take place with the local authorities. It is my right hon. Friend's intention to issue an invitation to the chairmen of the two county councils to see him on this subject. The order will be laid when the consultations have been completed.

Mr. Goodhew

Can the Minister tell the House what representations he has received from the Hertfordshire County Council, which is much more affected by this decision, and what answer he has given?

Mr. MacDermot

If the hon. Member cares to put down a Question about that, I will he pleased to let him have details.
