HC Deb 28 November 1967 vol 755 c229
14. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will take steps to facilitate the adjustment of rights of way, so that they do not cross cultivated fields diagonally but follow the lines of a hedge.

Mr. Skeffington

There is already provision in Section 111 of the Highways Act, 1959, for the diversion of a public right of way in order to secure the efficient use of I and. These matters are within the purview of the Footpaths Committee.

Mr. Digby

Would the hon. Gentleman refer this matter to the Gosling Committee now that food production is increasingly important owing to devaluation?

Mr. Skeffington

My right hon. Friend has been in touch with the Committee on this aspect and other aspects, and I have no reason to think that it is not well aware of that point.
