HC Deb 28 November 1967 vol 755 c216
20. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what replies he has now received from the local authority associations in response to his request for their views on the Report, Living in Caravans.

38 and 39. Mr. Murray

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) when he will introduce legislation to give security of tenure and rent control to residential caravan dwellers;

(2) what is the result of the consultations he has had with the Consumer Council about their survey, Living in a Caravan; and if he will make a statement.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (Mr. Arthur Skeffington)

I understand that the hon. Member for Orpington (Mr. Lubbock) intends to introduce a Bill to give protection to residential caravan dwellers. My right hon. Friend will study his proposals carefully when details are available, together with the comments received from the local authority associations on the Consumer Council report. Not all of these comments are yet to hand, and my right hon. Friend will have further consultations with the Consumer Council and others in due course.

Mrs. Short

I thank my hon. Friend.
