§ 28. Mr. Martenasked the Minister of Power what plans he has for removing from the electricity industry capital charges and other burdens which had a bearing on recent price increases.
§ Mr. MarshNo write off of capital is contemplated, but on 18th July I told the House of plans to provide that the Exchequer would in future relieve the electricity industry of certain costs incurred in increasing its use of coal.
§ Mr. MartenCan the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that he will ignore the resolution passed at the T.U.C. conference on 8th September to remove these charges from the electricity industry?
§ Mr. MarshNo Government would ever ignore a resolution of a T.U.C. conference. I am not completely aware of this particular point at the moment.
