§ 6 and 7. Mr. Peter Millsasked the Minister of Power (1) what proposals have now been made by the Central Electricity Generating Board on their pumped storage power station at Bucks Mill, North Devon;
(2) what guidance he has given to the farmers who are affected by the delay to the building of the pumped storage power station at Bucks Mill, North Devon.
§ Mr. FreesonThe position is still as stated in the reply given to the hon. Member on 29th November, 1966.— [Vol. 737, c. 65.]
§ Mr. MillsBut this delay is causing considerable anxiety among many people in this area. If this scheme went forward, it would help very much to solve the economic and unemployment problems in this area. We urge the Central Electricity Generating Board to get on with the task.
§ Mr. FreesonI appreciate that there is concern about this. The Board assures 1255 us that it is very conscious of the difficulties referred to by the hon. Gentleman and will be willing to consider applications to sell land from anyone concerned about the position. It is not possible yet to anticipate the final outcome of the investigation as a number of important matters have to be completed, but I have no doubt that the Board is proceeding with the matter as quickly as it can.
